Dallas Paper Sues ‘SEO Queen’ Over Copycat Sites

Law360 (June 30, 2021, 5:03 PM EDT) — The Dallas Morning News goes after a Wisconsin girl who it says steals its articles and net visitors in an unlawful scheme she overtly describes on her YouTube channel.

According to the grievance filed in Texas federal courtroom, advertising and marketing “black hatter” Holly Starks commonly circumvents the Dallas Morning News’ paywall and infringes its copyrights by duplicating its articles on dummy web sites, in “willful” violation of federal copyright legal guidelines. In addition to textual content, the newsroom mentioned, Starks lifts copyrighted images, logos, movies, emblems and supply code — and including insult to damage, she publicly boasts about circumventing the corporate’s takedown requests…
