Netflix’s popular K-drama Gyeongseong Creature is ready to entertain viewers with its second season. Starring Han So-hee and Park Seo-joon in lead roles, the thriller series struck the right chords with K-drama lovers upon its release on December 22 last year. The 10-episode show witnessed a successful run on the OTT platform. Now, on January 8, Netflix Korea dropped the announcement of Gyeongseong Creature’s second installment on YouTube. Needless to mention, the teaser has highly intrigued the masses. Although it is confirmed that Gyeongseong Creature 2 will premiere sometime in 2024, the release date is yet to be revealed.

Gyeongseong Creature is set against the backdrop of the dark times of the 1945 spring season in a fictitious city named Gyeongseong in Korea. The story revolves around an entrepreneur and a sleuth who join forces to fight and survive against a monster, born out of human greed. Gyeongseong Creature 2 will pick up from the finale episode of the first season, set against present times. Yoon Chae-ok, played by Han So-hee, who survives the spring of Gyeongseong happens to meet Ho-jae. Ho-jae resembles Jang Tae-sang, played by Park Seo-joon.

The announcement video, which is the post-credits scene of the show’s final episode, opens with visuals of the Korean flag floating in the air, followed by protest marches, chaos and violence, medical emergencies, and rocket launches. As the camera zooms out, it is revealed that the visuals are coming from an age-old television set. Park Seo-joon is the one who was watching the show. He approaches a window, giving a clear view of the Seoul cityscape, and lets out a mysterious smile. Although he looks similar to Jang Tae-sang, he is a man named Ho-jae who is the head of Geumokdang. Upon closer inspection, one can see a vertical-shaped scar at the nape of his neck, indicating that he has a story of his own.

Apart from the video, fresh stills from the series featuring Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee were also released by the makers. Unlike the first season, season 2 depicts the two individuals in modern clothes, underlining the fact that the story takes place in a 2024 setting. Viewers are intrigued to witness the equation between Yoon Chae-ok and Ho-jae and the crisis they face in the second season.
