The spin-off of “Forest of Secrets” (also known as “Stranger”) has confirmed its 2024 premiere!
Previously in February, production company Studio Dragon confirmed that the hit tvN drama “Forest of Secrets” is returning with a spin-off series titled “Good or Bad Dong Jae” (literal title) that focuses on Seo Dong Jae’s character.
“Forest of Secrets” first aired in 2017 and told the story of an emotionless prosecutor named Hwang Si Mok (Cho Seung Woo) and a warm-hearted police officer named Han Yeo Jin (Bae Doona) who join forces to solve hidden mysteries and investigate corruption. In 2020, the show returned with a second season where Hwang Si Mok and Han Yeo Jin reunited after two years under different circumstances, with the pair on opposite sides of a tense situation involving the police and the prosecutor’s office. Lee Joon Hyuk starred in both seasons as the corrupted prosecutor Seo Dong Jae.
In “Good or Bad Dong Jae,” Lee Joon Hyuk will reprise his role as Seo Dong Jae, a prosecutor at the Cheongju District Prosecutors’ Office who has a bleak future due to the stigma of having been corrupted in the past. As he takes on the murder case of a high school girl, Seo Dong Jae begins to walk a dangerous tightrope between his instincts as a prosecutor and as an opportunist.
The production team remarked, “This time, we decided to unfold a story focused on Seo Dong Jae, an attractive character who is neither good or evil, as it would be a waste to portray him only in ‘Forest of Secrets.’ Please look forward to where Dong Jae’s struggle to survive in the world of prosecutors will lead him.”
